Home Win for Blacksburg over Virginia Beach

Blacksburg welcomed Virginia Beach on a long trip for a friendly, and the visitors brought a great contest. Although the travel left Virginia Beach in need of a few borrowed players for the match, they came to play and put 17 points on the board against Blacksburg.

The hosts started well with a 20-0 lead in the first 30 minutes and a 25-5 lead at the half, but Blacksburg softened to let in two tries and a conversion in the last 20 minutes as Virginia Beach came on strong in the late stages. Blacksburg countered with 15 points throughout the second half for a 40-17 final tally, but also left a lot of points on the board during the match by failing to convert any of their eight tries. Gallic phenom Tom-Davy Saux earned man-of-the-match honors for Blacksburg with fierce play in defense and at the breakdown, while Blacksburg prop John Post also deserves mention for putting a try on the board against Blacksburg during an impressive cameo for Virginia Beach.

Blacksburg thanks Virginia Beach for making the trip and looks forward to a rest next weekend before a local friendly with Virginia Tech on the first weekend of April.
